York reputed to be one of the most haunted cities in the country. The choice of places to visit and things to do in York is simply overwhelming.

The centre of York is a tapestry of shops, each with their own speciality. York has been an important cultural, political and religious centre since Roman times. Today it retains an impressive sense of history, whilst also being a thriving modern city.

York is big enough to give it a cosmopolitan feel, whilst being small enough not to feel overwhelming. It has a wide variety of entertainment. It is famed for its pubs, bars and restaurants and it has a thriving café culture. Five different nightclubs also offer student nights and two provide a free bus from the university campus. York also has an impressive array of high-culture entertainment.

The Theatre Royal and the Grand Opera House offer dance, music, drama and opera. The city is also ideally located to explore some of Britain's most impressive countryside, whilst still being only 2 hours by train from London

The College of Ripon and York has been educating students since 1841. It is located in the heart of the city centre and some of the best views of York can be seen from the medieval walls by the front gates.
